After a recent trip to the local tip i was astonished by the amount of old pc’s / computers / laptops that were simply thrown into a skip, while taking electrical components to your local tip complies with the weee regulations (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) you might be suprised to know that none of the items that go into the skip are actually recylced!
I went to my local tip yesterday and removed a working machine which has already been “re-homed”, this machine still had the old users documents on it!
We can either secure erase your old hard drive to protect your personal data, then re use in a donor machine which will then be given to charity or a school child that can the use it to do thier homework on, or it can be removed and destroyed (with a hammer usualy), some parts will be used as spares and anything that cant be reused will be disassemled separating the metal, plastic and electrical parts for individual recyling instead of mass crushing and then put into landfill or incinerated which is what i was told happens to alot of this stuff.If you are a charity or a parent in need of a re-cycled computer please email for details on how to obtain a free unit.
