Hints & Tips
- Never run a program that you didn’t specifically intend to install or use particularly if it ends with “.exe”.
- Avoid opening spam email or attachments form unrecognised sources.
- When forwarding emails always use “Bcc” so that if a “viral” email is malicious it won’t be redistributed to all recipients and your contacts emails remain private
- Make sure your operating system is upto date and that all “patches” are installed.
- Run or schedule your anti-virus software to run at least twice a week.
- An average user will only install 1 line of defence to protect the system from malicious intrusions it is recommended that Anti-virus and another Anti-Malware or Spyware are used. Be sure to install a recommended defense as there are many “detectors” on the internet which actually are malware themselves.
- Clean your temporary files regularly to avoid system slow down.
- All the fans inside your system usually suck or blow dust onto other components we recommend to prolong the life of your system that you vacum out the dust 3 monthly to avoid build up and heat damage.
- Any files that you download regardless of the source should be scanned using recommended AVG Anti-Virus software.
- If using a wireless device/router please remember that any additional devices will slow down the service
- When using the windows Small office network feature Microsoft recommend to a maximum of 4 machines then run a dedicated server
